Lancaster uses their Best Weapon in Fighting Burglaries: the Public

LANCASTER - The City of Lancaster is taking a proactive stance against burglary, acting even before citizens have the chance to be victimized. This effort to secure the community from possible burglaries is taking shape through "Burglary Prevention" sessions hosted by the City of Lancaster Public Safety Office and the Lancaster Sheriff's Station for residents and businesses.

The city will host two sessions this month at City Hall, 44933 Fern Avenue, in the City Council Chamber, and they will be open to all members of the public. The first session will take place on March 19th at 10 am and will focus on educating business owners on preventive tactics and indicators to guard against burglary. A second session will take place March 19th at 7 pm and will be more community oriented, focusing on neighborhood and residential security.

The goal of both these sessions is "to 'train the trainer' with the trainer taking information back to their employees or neighborhood watch group members," explained the City's Public Safety Supervisor, Shelli Henson.

"Community awareness is key in establishing a safe Lancaster," said Mayor Henry Hearns. "Such services have shown to be effective tools in combating crimes before they are committed, educating and raising public awareness of elements that threaten the community."

For more information or to RSVP, contact the Public Safety Office at 723-6063.
